Lacey Tu<\/span><\/span> began her career in the film industry as a production coordinator for documentary filmmaker Marco Orsini. She <\/span>later <\/span>joined the International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA), a Monaco-based NGO, as its <\/span>h<\/span>ead of <\/span>d<\/span>evelopment. During her time at IEFTA, she has overseen three critical international UN Refugee Campaigns (in print, broadcast and new media) while developing IEFTA’s engagement with the educational and industrial capacity of emerging economies in Sub-Saharan Africa.\u202f<\/span>Lacey has since transitioned to IEFTA\u2019s Active Board to focus on the organi<\/span>z<\/span>ation<\/span>‚<\/span>s management and strategic direction while continuing to work as a <\/span>p<\/span>roducer on documentaries.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

Mohamed Sa\u00efd <\/span>Ouma<\/span><\/span> is an experienced filmmaker, an avid cultural operator and a seasoned festival manager who currently serves as the <\/span>e<\/span>xecutive <\/span>d<\/span>irector<\/span> of <\/span>DocA<\/span>-Documentary Africa. He has cut his professional teeth as a festival manager for the International Film Festival of Africa and the Islands (FIFAI) from 2004 to 2015<\/span> where he managed to coordinate support for the festival from the Municipality of Le Port<\/span>, <\/span>Reunion Islands and the national film governing body (CNC). With his team, they <\/span>focused<\/span> on redefining the editorial line towards an author-driven agenda and adjusted it to be in sync with the support policy criteria.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Ayanda <\/span>Halimana<\/span><\/span> is a South African <\/span>s<\/span>creenwriter, <\/span>s<\/span>tory <\/span>e<\/span>ditor as well as <\/span>c<\/span>onsultant. She has more than ten <\/span>years experience<\/span> in <\/span>the f<\/span>ilm <\/span>and<\/span> TV <\/span>i<\/span>ndustry. She has worked at the SABC as<\/span> c<\/span>ommissioning <\/span>e<\/span>ditor for <\/span>d<\/span>rama<\/span> and worked at <\/span>MNet\u2019s<\/span> Mzansi Magic as <\/span>c<\/span>ommissioning <\/span>e<\/span>ditor. Ayanda has since founded her own <\/span>s<\/span>tory <\/span>d<\/span>evelopment <\/span>c<\/span>ompany, Y<\/span>andaHalis<\/span> Films. Through her <\/span>c<\/span>ompany she does <\/span>c<\/span>onsultant work and training for young <\/span>s<\/span>creenwriters for the National Film & Video Foundation as well as the Kwazulu Natal Film Commission.\u202f<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Julia Wagner is founder <\/span>and producer at <\/span>Berlin-based HEARTWAKE films, producing fiction and documentary films <\/span>of <\/span>artistic and social relevance for the German and International market<\/span>, with a focus on <\/span>feminist, queer and underrepresented perspectives<\/span>. Originally trained as audiovisual media designer, she holds a diploma in international producing from <\/span>Filmakademie<\/span> Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg, is a<\/span>lumna of <\/span>BerlinaleTalents<\/span>,<\/span><\/span> EAVE <\/span>ProducersWorkshop<\/span> & <\/span>Rotterdam Lab<\/span>, <\/span>member of EWA <\/span>EuropeanWomenAudiovisualNetwork<\/span>, WIFT<\/span>, <\/span>the French-German Film Academy and <\/span>Produzentenverband<\/span>.<\/span> Since 2019 she joined the production committee at <\/span>Filmakademie<\/span> Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg <\/span>as advisor and lecturer, where she also teaches in the GENDER-IN-PROGRESS line.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

Sam Soko<\/div>

Sam <\/span>Soko<\/span><\/span> is a documentary filmmaker based in Nairobi, Kenya. With his captivating approach to socio-political storytelling, he has developed content and collaborated with firebrand artists worldwide. His first feature documentary project, <\/span>„<\/span>Softie<\/span>„<\/span>, a story about balancing the deep love of country with the family’s needs, premiered at the 2020 Sundance <\/span>F<\/span>ilm <\/span>F<\/span>estival, winning a special jury prize for editing. <\/span>Soko<\/span> has gone on to receive Emmy, Peabody, and PGA nominations for <\/span>h<\/span>is work. He is an outspoken defender of freedom of expression and has taken part in global conversations on making media matter when the world is on fire. <\/span>Soko<\/span> is also co-founder of <\/span>LBx<\/span> Africa, a Kenyan production company that works with local and international filmmakers to bring uniquely African perspectives to global audiences.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Jenna Cato Bass<\/span><\/span> is a South African writer, filmmaker and former magician. Her award-winning films include the short,\u202f<\/span>„<\/span>The Tunnel<\/span>„<\/span>\u202f(2010), and the collaboratively-created features\u202f<\/span>„<\/span>Love <\/span>t<\/span>he One You Love<\/span>„<\/span>\u202f(2014) and\u202f<\/span>„<\/span>High Fantasy<\/span>„<\/span> (2017), which have screened around the world, including at the Sundance, Berlinale and Toronto Film Festivals. Together with <\/span>Wanuri<\/span> Kahiu<\/span>, Jenna co-wrote the coming-of-age romance,\u202f<\/span>„<\/span>Rafiki<\/span>„<\/span>,\u202fwhich premiered in Cannes Un Certain Regard in 2018. Her third feature as director and writer,\u202f<\/span>„<\/span>Flatland<\/span>„<\/span>, was the opening film of the 2019 Berlinale Panorama. In 2019, Jenna directed the short film\u202f<\/span>„<\/span>Sizohlala<\/span>„<\/span>\u202fwhich was <\/span>e<\/span>xecutive <\/span>p<\/span>roduced by acclaimed filmmaker Jia <\/span>Zhangke<\/span>. Her fourth feature film, <\/span>the <\/span>horror-satire<\/span> „<\/span>Mlungu <\/span>Wam<\/span>„<\/span>, co-written with <\/span>Babalwa<\/span> Baartman<\/span>, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Platform Competition. Azza Chaabouni<\/span><\/b> is a Tunisian teacher-researcher, editor, independent film programmer and serves as an expert and consultant on film projects and for cultural organizations. From 2014 to 2019, she developed and led TAKMILWorkshop\/Carthage Film Festival (JCC). From 2018 to 2020, she was the head of Cin\u00e9 Par\u2019Court <\/span>\u062e\u0637\u0648\u0627\u062a<\/span>, a short film production program for Talents based in Tunisia (CNCI and Goethe Institut-Tunis).\u202f In 2020, she initiated MedFilm Works in Progress and MedFilm Talents, part of MedFilm Festival professional platform.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She is also responsible for TATWIR, a new development program for creative documentary initiated by Doc House-Tunisia. Azza studied cinema in Cinecitt\u00e0-Rome and pursued a Master Degree in social and cultural anthropology in Tunis.\u202fShe is based in Tunis where she teaches cinema and visual anthropology at the Higher Institute of Applied Studies in Humanities-Kef.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

Laurene <\/span>Manaa<\/span> Abdallah<\/span><\/span> (<\/span>Addy<\/span>)<\/span> is film producer, editor and lecturer.\u202fShe holds an MFA in Cinema and TV from EICAR, Paris France, <\/span>a d<\/span>iploma in Film <\/span>and<\/span> TV from the National <\/span>F<\/span>ilm and Television Institute<\/span> and<\/span> a <\/span>Postgraduate from<\/span> the<\/span> University of Winneba, Ghana. She believes in the ability of films to cross barriers and provoke discourse on pertinent issues and\u202fis currently researching on the continuity and divergence in post<\/span>–<\/span>colonial West African cinema. Her filmography as producer includes, <\/span>„<\/span>Aloevera<\/span>„<\/span> (<\/span>2020<\/span>)<\/span>, <\/span>„<\/span>Sidechic<\/span> Gang<\/span>„<\/span> (<\/span>2018<\/span>)<\/span>, <\/span>„<\/span>Keteke<\/span>„<\/span> (<\/span>2017<\/span>)<\/span>, <\/span>„<\/span>40 and Single<\/span>„<\/span> (<\/span>2018<\/span>)<\/span>. Her first feature film<\/span>,<\/span> „<\/span>Keteke<\/span>„,<\/span> won the Best Screenplay at the 26th Edition of <\/span>Fespacom<\/span> with <\/span>„<\/span>40<\/span> and Single<\/span>„<\/span> winning <\/span>the<\/span> Audience Award at the LA Film Festival. Short films <\/span>„<\/span>Exhale<\/span>„<\/span> and <\/span>„<\/span>Her She Woman<\/span>„<\/span> which she wrote and produced won the Merck Foundation Award <\/span>in <\/span>2019.
